Thodoris Ziarkas
Thodoris Ziarkas is a double bassist, multi-instrumentalist and composer from Greece.
Whilst growing up in the Greek folk tradition and playing local instruments like the Lyra and bagpipe, later focused on the double bass and studied jazz and composition for films.
Over the last decade, while based in London he is the co-founder of the psych-jazz band Valia Calda and performs regularly with his trio Thodoris Ziarkas’s Collection of Sand, Nancy Mounir’s – Nozhet El Nofous, Tom Sochas Trio, AMAN!!! amongst others. Thodoris has collaborated with artists such as London Improvisers Orchestra, Yazz Ahmed, Tasos Stamou, Maggie Nichols, Savina Yannatou, Cigdem Aslan in numerous festivals in the UK, Europe as well as in Cuba, USA, Lebanon and Turkey.
